Outdoor Fitness Equipment

Sports Ground Equipment

Combined sports ground stations with pull-up bars, gymnastic rings, climbing ladders and parallel bars, plus obstacle-course units.

Sports ground equipment brings several exercises together on a single load-bearing frame. The catalogue holds 11 models. The stations combine pull-up bars, gymnastic rings, horizontal climbing ladders (monkey bars), wall-bar style climbing ladders, parallel bars and sit-up benches in varying configurations, so that pulling, pushing and core work all fit onto one base.

The second part of the series covers obstacle-course units: a horizontal climbing net, stepped jump platforms, a spring-mounted balance platform and an inclined timber ramp. Each can stand alone or be lined up into a full course. The calisthenics ground models come in compact, large and double-sided arrangements to match different site sizes. Timber-post and all-metal versions are available, with metal surfaces electrostatically powder-coated.

What separates this group from outdoor fitness units is that the movement is unconstrained. On a fitness machine the path of movement is set by the mechanism and the user cannot leave it; on a calisthenics station the bars and rings are only points to hold, and the user builds the movement. That widens the range of exercises but also raises the threshold of skill and fitness — which is why the target users are younger people who train regularly.

Typical settings are school and university grounds, youth centres, the sports sections of neighbourhood parks, and camp and training sites. The obstacle-course units also suit group work and school physical education, and because they can be bought individually and built up into a sequence over time, they work for phased budgets.

Sports grounds are the most space-hungry group of outdoor exercise equipment. Beyond the station's own dimensions, clear movement space must be left for a user to swing beneath a bar and take a step on landing — an envelope markedly wider than the frame itself. Where several stations sit side by side, the gap between them must be enough for two people to train at once without touching.

Surfacing should not be skipped here. On pull-up bars, rings and horizontal climbing ladders the user leaves the ground; the chance of a fall is higher than on fitness machines and the landing point is directly beneath the unit. Impact-absorbing surfacing matched to the climbing height must therefore cover both the station and the movement space around it. A calisthenics station installed on a hard surface creates a risk independent of the equipment itself.

Orientation matters too. The movement space under bars and rings must not cross a pedestrian route, so the unit belongs in a bay of its own rather than at the edge of a path. Shade and visibility count as well, and since sports areas are busiest in the evening, the lighting plan should be drawn up alongside the equipment plan.

Installation requires a concrete foundation and anchoring; as users hang their full weight from these units, the adequacy of that foundation is decisive. Maintenance means monthly checks on ring suspension points, bar welds and joints, fibre breakage in climbing net ropes, and moisture at post bases on timber-framed models. Measurements for this group are not printed in the catalogue; we confirm them in writing at the survey and quotation stage. Tell us your site dimensions and we will work out which model fits.
