Nature Series Playground Sets

The Nature Series takes its shapes from tree houses and logs. Slides, climbing walls and tunnel units are produced in the earth and green tones the theme calls for; the load-bearing frame is steel profile, while infill and decorative panels carry a timber-grained finish. Metal parts are electrostatically powder-coated and timber surfaces are protected with water-based paint, combining the appearance of wood with the structural strength of steel.

What the series really solves is visual coherence. Drop a brightly coloured standard unit into a wooded picnic ground or a botanical park and the equipment overwhelms the landscape, making the site feel smaller than it is. The palette and organic forms used here do the opposite: the unit settles into the existing tree cover. Woodland rest areas run by municipalities, country hotels, nature-themed nurseries and rural school yards are the typical settings.

The series has two models, aimed at different age groups. DS 01 has a drop height of 100 cm, a peak height of 350 cm, a footprint of 420 × 420 cm and a safety area of 720 × 720 cm — roughly 52 m². Its low platforms suit younger children and tighter sites. DS 02 has a drop height of 275 cm, a peak height of 530 cm, a footprint of 610 × 500 cm and a safety area of 950 × 980 cm, about 93 m², and speaks to older children who want height and climbing.

Layout planning must be based on the safety area, not the ground footprint. DS 01 physically occupies about 17.6 m², yet the space you have to set aside is 52 m²; the difference is the zone that must stay completely clear around the unit. Nothing may sit inside it — no tree trunk, kerb, planter edge, bench, litter bin or lighting column. In natural settings the unit tends to be squeezed between existing trees, so this is exactly where the rule comes under pressure. Mark tree positions on the site sketch during the survey.

Drop height in turn governs the surfacing decision. The gap between 100 cm and 275 cm materially changes the impact-absorbing layer required beneath each model, which is why equipment and surfacing have to be decided together rather than in sequence. The surfacing must cover the whole safety area, not just the ground under the structure. In natural settings, green and brown rubber tones are usually preferred. Production follows the scope of TS EN 1176, the standard covering children's playground equipment.

Installation requires a concrete foundation and anchoring; transport, surfacing and assembly are carried out by our own team. Maintenance has one extra item for units placed under trees: fallen leaves, resin and fruit collect on slide surfaces and in surfacing joints, and if not cleared regularly they cause both slipperiness and moisture damage. Beyond that, upkeep amounts to seasonal tightness checks on fixings, review of the anchor points, and periodic renewal of the protective coating on timber-look surfaces.

Work through three questions in order: does the site meet the safety area figure, which model matches your target age group, and has surfacing suited to the drop height been budgeted. The most common mistake is choosing the theme from a photograph without matching it to the setting, and overlooking the age gap between the two models.
